ClarityPad ("we," "our," or "us") is a privacy-first AI workspace designed to protect your data. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our mobile or tablet applications (the "App").

1. Overview

ClarityPad operates under a simple principle — your data stays on your device. We do not store or analyze your personal content on our servers. When ClarityPad connects to third-party AI models, your data is sent directly to those providers and never passes through our systems.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect the minimum data necessary to provide and improve our service:

2.1 Account and Profile Information

  • Email Address: Used for account creation and authentication.
  • Profile Details: Optional fields such as name, gender, and location enhance personalization.
  • Hashed Identifier: A non-reversible hash of your email is retained after deletion to prevent repeated abuse of free credits.

2.2 Usage Analytics

  • Device & App Data: Anonymous metrics like device type, OS version, and crash reports help improve performance.
  • Prompt Gallery Interactions: Aggregated analytics are used to understand global feature usage; no personal identifiers are attached.

2.3 Voice Notes and Temporary Chat Data

  • Transcription Jobs: When you submit a voice note, its audio and text are stored temporarily (up to 72 hours) for processing and then permanently deleted.
  • Regular chat messages and notes are stored only locally on your device.

2.4 Subscription Information

  • Managed through RevenueCat, which handles in-app purchases and may collect purchase receipts or anonymized identifiers.

2.5 AI Providers

  • ClarityPad integrates with external AI providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, and others ("AI Providers").
  • When you use AI features, your prompts and related data are transmitted directly to the chosen provider.
  • Each provider processes data in accordance with their own privacy policy, not ClarityPad's.

2.6 Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)

  • If you supply your own API key, it is stored locally on your device.
  • It is used only for direct communication with the provider you select.
  • ClarityPad never stores, logs, or transmits your API keys to any intermediary.

3. How We Use Information

We use limited data solely to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Deliver and improve app functionality.
  • Personalize your experience (if profile data is provided).
  • Maintain fair usage of free credits.
  • Diagnose performance issues and enhance app reliability.

We do not sell, rent, or monetize user data in any way.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • All personal data (notes, prompts, API keys) is stored locally on your device.
  • Temporary processing data (e.g., transcriptions) is deleted automatically within 72 hours.
  • We employ industry-standard encryption and access controls to protect all communications and stored data.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

  • You can delete your account anytime within the App.
  • Upon deletion, all personal data stored locally is erased.
  • Only a hashed identifier of your email remains for anti-abuse purposes.
  • We retain anonymized analytics solely for statistical and diagnostic purposes.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location (EU, California, India, or elsewhere), you may have the right to:

  • Access and obtain a copy of your personal data.
  • Request correction or deletion.
  • Object to or limit certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent where applicable.

7. Children's Privacy

ClarityPad is not directed toward children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect or process any personal information from minors. Since ClarityPad stores user data locally on each device, no personal data is transmitted to our servers. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at support@claritypad.app. We will promptly delete their limited account metadata (e.g., hashed email and subscription record) and advise the user or guardian to uninstall the app to remove local data.

8. Future Cloud or Sync Features

Should we introduce optional features such as cloud sync, collaboration, or shared workspaces:

  • Users will receive clear, advance notice.
  • Participation will be entirely opt-in.
  • Data handling changes will be reflected in an updated Privacy Policy before release.

9. Analytics and Diagnostics

To improve app performance and user experience, we collect limited analytics and diagnostic information:

  • App Performance: Crash reports, error logs, and performance metrics to identify and fix issues.
  • Feature Usage: Anonymized data about which features are used most frequently to guide development priorities.
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for compatibility testing.
  • No Personal Content: We never collect or analyze the content of your notes, chats, or voice recordings.

All analytics data is anonymized and cannot be traced back to individual users. You can opt out of analytics collection in the app settings.

9. Third-Party Services

ClarityPad may include integrations or links to third-party services (e.g., AI Providers, RevenueCat). Use of these services is governed by their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing them carefully.

10. Platform Compliance

ClarityPad is available on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Our data practices comply with the policies and requirements of both platforms:

10.1 Google Play Store Data Safety

  • No Data Shared with Third Parties: We do not share personal data with third parties for advertising, marketing, or analytics purposes.
  • Data Collection: We collect minimal data including email addresses for authentication, optional profile information for personalization, and audio files temporarily for transcription processing.
  • Data Security: All data transmission is encrypted in transit and stored securely on device or deleted within 72 hours for temporary processing.

10.2 Apple App Store Privacy Labels

  • Data Used to Track You: None. We do not track users across apps or websites owned by other companies.
  • Data Linked to You: Email address for account creation, optional profile information, and temporary audio files for transcription.
  • Data Not Linked to You: Crash logs and anonymized performance diagnostics to improve app stability.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" and provide in-app notice if the changes are significant. The latest version will always be available at: https://claritypad.app/privacy
